Whistle - 17 Peachtober

We all sat upon the starting line

Everybody was in place

Ready to run around

And finish a mile

At the fastest pace

It was an early morning event

On a Saturday

A loud whistle then went off

And we all went on our way

The patter of our feet on concrete

Quite an appealing sound

We all enjoyed the race we ran

The applause from the crowd rang out real loud

Hatch - 16 Peachtober

I have the most amazing story to tell you!!!

I mean it’s quite a fascinating scene.

There was a nest in the window

With a bird that would sing

One morning I caught a glimpse of eggs -

I counted….maybe four?

They all started to crack and shake

My eyes waiting for more

I gasped and was very startled

As a beak began to show

Eight tiny beady eyes greeting me….

And to them

I said Hello!

Aquarium - 15 Peachtober

A teacher had once told me

Their favorite field trip

Was unlike any other

They went to see

What had to be -

Every fish you could find

in the deep blue sea.

But I took that as a shock

‘Cause there’s one thing they forgot.

There was that time

We stood in line

To see a Zebra mop.

Brush - 14 Peachtober

I’m having such a bad hair day!

Don’t even know what to wear day!

I’m sleepy and I’m yawning…

…YAWN…

And washing my face didn’t wake me.

I took a brush to my hair to straighten

- But nothing seems to help.

I tried,

I tried,

And tried some more

Then let out a sigh…

“OH WELP!!!”

Marble - 13 Peachtober

Such an appealing smell invades my nose

I cannot wait to take a taste!

I spent this morning and afternoon

Kneading dough and placing icing on some cakes.

I made many rolls, some cupcakes, and pastries -

Marbled brownies and cookies fill a shelf.

You would think all of this was made for a crowd…

But Nope!

It’s all for myself!

Bark - 12 Peachtober

I took a stroll one afternoon

To a park around the block from me.

A new neighborhood site

the city seemed to have built overnight

And that’s when I saw an old tree

A giant compared to those around

A trunk that was so wide.

I sat under it for a moment

To take a break -

From the heat

I wanted to hide.

So many branches and large leaves

And its roots ran real long

It’s bark was rough and furrowed

But held many birds that sang a song.
