Leaf - 08 Peachtober

I grew upon this branch

A bright green for most my life

A chill wind came, then I became

Amber colored and quite crisp.

I fell towards the ground

Away from a tree I knew so well -

A breeze gently guiding me

On a wonderful kind of tryst.

Strawberry - 07 Peachtober

I guess I’m a delightful fruit

That’s what others have said of me.

And there’s never been

a shortage of my use

So I live happily

You can probably find me in your cereal

Your choice of ice cream and your jam

I go great on buttered toast

And lay nicely on cured ham.

I can do it all on my own

But I’m often paired with help

Kiwis and Bananas are often there

To help me keep my pep

Ring - 06 Peachtober

The lights flash and flicker

The crowd roars and jeers

He struts his way

down the ramp to say…

“I’m a man you’ll never beat!!!”

He enters very quickly

A bell starts to ring

A punch and then a kick or two

A headlock then a fling

Next comes a suplex

A pin

and a referee -

Starts the count!

1…

2…

then 3!

A heel some will call him,

But he himself he knows…

Once outside the ring

His compassion really shows.

Poppy - 05 Peachtober

What story can I tell you dear!?

The flowers in this field

They’ll say can bring a little peace.

Holding lots of memories

Of many lives that have ceased.

A breeze can gently move you

A tale can make you weep

Stay awhile in these poppy fields

And you’ll soon find your relief.
