Folktale Week : Lost

A fisherman of many years

I know the sea quite well

But on this particular day

I must say

the waves they overwhelm.

The winds surround so gently

As I sing a hearty tune -

The nets are set overboard

Our boats guided by the moon.

A sway and unruly rocking

A crisp and gusty eve….

“Hoist the nets you merry men!”

And we let out a thunderous

“Heave!!”

But our catch was quite peculiar

Our catch was a maiden fair

She hummed a song that captivated

And let down her jet-black hair.

Our ears perked and listened

We all froze in our place

And one by one she called us

To our underwater graves.

The Fisherman And His Soul

Oscar Wilde

“I would send my soul away from me.”

My soul is naught to me -

I cannot see it,

I may not touch it,

I do not know it.

This years prompts -

  1. Lost

  2. Ink

  3. Sea

  4. Sleep

  5. Underground

  6. Illusion

  7. Found

Happy Halloween

It happened on this particular night.

A frightfully scary sight.

When the moon was high,

And lit a darkened sky…

I simply could not believe my eyes!

A cause of great concern

I trembled and yelled to be heard!

I tried to talk,

I tried to speak,

I whimpered and I cried,

But made no peep.

I flailed my arms and then I ran…

If you saw it too you'd surely scram!

A night that was made for tricks or treats -

An empty bowl with no candy to eat!!!

Hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Halloween.
