Carving Out
IMG_0591.JPG

I recently picked up a small Speedball Linoleum kit to mess around with some printmaking and to make a small card for a friend. I totally forgot to carve everything out in reverse though. I think I may use the photograph of it instead though.

The phrase would read "I love you almost as much as I love myself,"

Ink and Paper

Began work on a few collages. They are all on 5x7 canvas panels which I will probably combine with some older work I’ve done.

Barking!

Finished a few of these up a few days ago. These are a few pets for a friend of mine. I still have a couple more to do though. The two below went off in the mail last week and I hope their new owner enjoys them.

The pets I’ve been doing have changed up a bit. I’m wanting to capture someone’s pet and keep it fun and light - when I started doing these they were more based around simple shapes but I’ve enjoyed pushing them further and playing with texture lately too.

Spotlight on the Arts - Fairfax VA

Spent Saturday May 12th painting with a few people out in Fairfax, VA. It was a really nice day in Old Town Square. The event started at 10 am and I think I got there maybe around 10:30 or slightly earlier. I wanted to work on a character portrait so I got started. Progression photos along with the final are below.

I want to play with the idea of masks more. Character drawings that are wearing masks - though I'm not entirely sure what that should look like but I've been messing with a few things.

There's a really neat site called Masks of the World check it out and browse over the different masks from different countries. It's pretty neat!

Many thanks to Matthew (WhoArtwork), City of Fairfax, and Plaza Artist Supply.

May Daze Festival

My sister and I set up a small table with little canvases kids could paint on during Creswell's May Daze Festival. We also set up a few panels of wood so attendees could paint a mural. Watching kids paint but also hoping they kept the paint off of them was quite fun. I got an early start that morning heading down from Virginia and worried if things were going to turn out okay. Overall I think it was a good time for the kids that attended and I enjoyed it - just need to make sure clean up and packing goes a bit smoother.

I just added the first color set of these dogs to the site. Each piece is painted with acrylics on a 24x24 inch gallery wrapped canvas. I named each one based on the personality I felt like they gave off. I'll work on another set of these that will mainly be in grey-scale. I will also be working on a set that will be character portraits done in a similar style as these dogs.
